Through the Waters

Our mission is to nurture youth mental health by empowering students, equipping parents, and encouraging professionals.

Our Story

Through the Waters was founded in 2023 by Dr. Parke, a psychologist specializing in youth mental health.

We believe that high school and college should be times of joy, peace, purpose, and growth.

Anxiety or depression should not be a main character in any young person’s story.

We believe that light dispels darkness, wounds can be healed, pain can shape purpose, and love conquers all.

Our team is on a mission is to create mental health solutions that empower students, equip parents, and encourage professionals.

Whether you’re here to support your own mental health or to access resources so you can support someone you care about… welcome.

We are with you through the waters of #mentalhealth.

“There is growing concern about the state of mental health among young people around the world. That concern is clearly justified.”

– UNICEF Changing Childhood Project (2021)

It was unacceptable to us that, among youth around the world…

1 out of 4 are experiencing depression
1 out of 5 are experiencing anxiety
More than 20% have considered suicide

…and the barriers to quality mental health care are many, including:

Mental Health Systems

Difficulty accessing services; long waiting lists; health insurance hassles

Quality of Services

A shortage of mental health professionals with specialty training to serve youth; lack of evidence-based care; too little focus on prevention

Comfort and Ease

Youth often report feeling uncomfortable letting someone know they’re struggling or talking to someone
